About our Clinicians

Kathy Goerman, LMFT

Supporting adults in healing trauma, deepening self‑understanding, and creating meaningful change.

Kathy is a licensed psychotherapist and the owner of Turning Leaf Counseling in the Madison, Wisconsin area. She works with adults ages 18 and older and offers both in‑person and online sessions. Kathy is an LGBTQ+ and poly‑friendly therapist and accepts Quartz and Dean Health insurance plans, as well as private pay.

Kathy believes that emotional well‑being is closely connected to the experiences held in the body. Her approach is holistic and guided by a systems perspective, helping clients understand both their current experiences and the broader contexts that shape them. She offers a warm, grounded therapeutic space where clients can explore trauma, stress, relationship patterns, and personal growth with compassion and support.

Body‑Centered and Trauma‑Responsive Approaches

In addition to traditional talk therapy, Kathy integrates several body‑based and mind‑body modalities, including:

  • Somatic Experiencing (SEP) to help clients understand how stress and trauma are stored in the body and to support nervous‑system regulation and healing
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for mind‑body trauma processing, healing, and deeper integration
  • Developmental and Relational Trauma Therapy (DARTT) to address early relational wounds and long‑standing patterns
  • Mindfulness and insight‑oriented strategies to support awareness and emotional resilience
  • Solution‑focused and compassion‑driven care tailored to each client’s goals and pace

Kathy collaborates with clients to create personalized treatment plans that honor their lived experience, strengths, and readiness for change. Her intention is to offer a steady, supportive therapeutic relationship where clients feel seen, understood, and empowered.

Jay Blevins, LMFT

Supporting Individuals and Partners in creating lasting change through honest dialogue, steady support, and the kind of thoughtful challenge that moves growth forward.

Jay is a licensed marriage and family therapist who is Sex-Positive, Poly and Kink-knowledgeable, who has a diverse professional background that enriches his clinical work. His early academic training in psychology and computer science led him into the business world, where he later completed an MBA and founded several small businesses. These experiences shaped his understanding of human behavior, motivation, and the many systems people navigate in their daily lives.

Later in life, Jay chose to follow his long‑standing passion for helping others create the lives they want to live. He returned to graduate school to earn his Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy and has been practicing as a licensed therapist for nearly fourteen years. His work has been the meaningful, engaging, and rewarding journey he hoped it would be.

Jay brings a direct, supportive, and challenge‑oriented style to therapy. Clients who appreciate honesty, clarity, and collaborative accountability often find his approach especially helpful. He uses an eclectic blend of therapeutic methods, all grounded in systemic thinking. Jay does not view problems as residing within an individual; instead, he focuses on how challenges emerge within relationships, environments, and patterns of interaction. He relies most heavily on experiential approaches while tailoring his methods to the needs of each client.

Throughout his career, Jay has worked with adults, adolescents, couples, families, and individuals navigating a wide range of concerns. His breadth of experience allows him to meet clients with both confidence and curiosity as they work toward meaningful change.
