Turning Leaf Counseling offers individual therapy to adults ages 18+. Sessions are available both in-person and online through a HIPPA-compliant platform.
The following modalities are offered: Somatic Experiencing, EMDR, Family Systems, DARTT, Mindfulness for stress reduction, and others.
"Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a therapeutic approach designed to address trauma and stress-related disorders by focusing on the connection between the mind and body. Developed by Dr. Peter Levine, SE works with the nervous system to release stored trauma and restore balance. Instead of revisiting traumatic memories directly, it emphasizes awareness of bodily sensations, helping individuals process and resolve the physical effects of trauma gently and effectively.
This method is particularly beneficial for those experiencing symptoms like chronic stress, anxiety, or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It provides tools to build resilience and regain a sense of safety and control."
"EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a structured therapeutic approach designed to help individuals process and resolve traumatic memories. It uses bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements, tapping, or auditory tones, to activate both sides of the brain while focusing on distressing memories or emotions. This process helps reframe and reduce the emotional intensity of those memories, fostering resilience and emotional healing.
EMDR is particularly effective for treating trauma and PTSD, but it can also be beneficial for anxiety, depression, and other emotional challenges. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR focuses on the brain's natural ability to heal by creating new associations and reducing the emotional grip of painful experiences."
During your first session, we will take time to get to know one another. I will gather information to understand what brings you to therapy and begin to learn who you are, what you value, and what kind of changes you are hoping to make through therapy. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the counseling process.
A counseling session typically lasts 50-60 minutes.
Yes, in addition to private-pay, I take Quartz Insurance and Dean Health Plan.
