Turning Leaf Counseling LLC
-About-

Hi, I’m Kathy!

My approach to therapy is to look beyond the individual to include the interplay of bigger systems in my clients’ lives and how this may be affecting them individually. When appropriate I integrate mindfulness practices into my work. I see therapy as a collaborative process between practitioner and client and work with my client as we map a therapeutic path together.

I work with a variety of clients who want to enrich their lives, reduce personal or relational distress and suffering, and increase their vitality in life. I treat anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief & loss, relational/developmental trauma, PTSD, and surgical trauma, including preparing for surgery. I work with adults (ages 18+) in individual, couples and family sessions. I am an LGBTQ+ and poly friendly therapist.

In addition to traditional talk therapy, my training in Somatic Experiencing (SE) allows me to take a body-oriented approach, which includes working with the nervous system and people’s natural stress responses which often affect how they experience the world around them. I’ve found this approach often works to create lasting changes in my clients’ lives and helps them to find a better harmony within themselves and their relationships with others.

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. I have experience and training in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, friends and two rescue dogs. I like photography, taking hikes, and studying different therapeutic approaches… yes, I love what I do that much.
